Riviera Bird Club   -  About Us

 

 

We are a very friendly, like minded group of people who firstly, enjoy bird keeping and secondly, meeting socially with each other, to exchange ideas and experiences. Some of us have kept birds for many years and realise that the more you know about Birds, the more there is to learn about them. None of us know it all and are willing to learn more on the subject. We encourage people to join us who do not necessarily own birds, but have the interest in them as well as a person with a companion bird and multi Bird breeders;

   ALL ARE VERY WELCOME, including Children.

 

We were launched as a new Bird Club on Tuesday 8th December 2015, by Torbay’s Mayor,

Gordon Oliver and the first functions took place in January 2016.

 

We hold quarterly Meetings to keep in touch with each other and to listen to any speakers that we appoint to impart their own knowledge and experiences to us all. We try very hard to get speakers that are very interesting and informative, with the added benefit of a good sense of humour, in the hope that our members don’t fall asleep. We like our meetings to be fun for us all and we also hold competitive evenings, mostly related to Birds in the form of Quizzes etc. Every meeting, we hold a Raffle.

Free refreshments are provided to both members and guests at every Meeting.

Our ‘Summer Barbeque’ is always very popular, with 

Barbecued food and teas or coffees at very reasonable prices.

 

We hold Bird TABLE SALES every Month, except December,

to invite Bird Breeders from all over the local

area to come along to sell their Birds and related products.

​

 

Light Snacks are available to purchase, at very reasonable prices, at all Bird Sales, which include Sausage Rolls, Bacon Rolls and a variety of mouth watering Cakes.

 

We also hold a friendly Annual BIRD SHOW, for competitive members to try their luck against other Clubs’ Members, both locally and afar, who are conversant with the laid down BIRD Exhibiting Rules and regulations. The Cups and Rosettes are seriously

sought after and greatly valued.

Special Offer - for those 'Club Members' who attend our Monthly 'Table Sales', who have many birds, there is the facility to bulk order Seed etc from Kevin on 07710 427817.  Please give Kevin a telephone call a couple of weeks prior to our 'Table Sale' and it will be brought with him on the day of the 'Sale'.

We also offer a ‘FOR SALE’ & 'WANTED' Page, in order for our Members to Advertise or to Search for Birds or related merchandise, FREE of charge, on our Website.

 

We are happy to volunteer our services to the Community at large, for

BIRD INFORMATION & EDUCATION to local Schools and Clubs.

 

We pride ourselves on providing a Club which is adapted for all Bird enthusiasts, not just for one or two breeds, unlike many other Clubs. We also encourage any suggestions that our members and guests might have.
