Marine Conservation Initiative
During September 2018, Endurance Swimmer Lewis Pugh
completed an unprecedented length of the English Channel, 330 mile
journey which took 49 days, half a million strokes and 98,000 calories.
Lewis Pugh, who used the challenge to highlight poor marine protection, arrived in Dover on the afternoon of Wednesday August 29th 2018 to become the first person to achieve the incredible feat without use of a wet suit and flippers. Lewis wants at least 30% of the world's oceans to be protected by 2030. The current figure stands at around 4%.
It is intended to provide safe spaces for wildlife, to protect an area from fishing and other sorts of harm, then animals become more abundant, they become larger, they live longer, they produce many many more offspring and they also supply areas around them with their offspring.
Websites 'Emkay Collection' and 'Our Fragile Planet' priority focused on the awareness of Marine Conservation Worldwide during September 2018 and have used Social Media to remind people of the fragility of our Oceans and Marine Life ever since.
